The 330 Thonet Chair inspired by the artistic ambience

The ambience of artists’ studios, theatre stages and literary cafés provided the inspiration behind this new chair for Thonet, designed by Berlin-based industrial designers Julia Läufer and Marcus Keichel.

The 330 chair - the legs and armrests are made of solid beech; seats and backrests are made of plywood. The chairs come with a natural or stained finish and both designs are stackable. Photo: Thonet.

The 330 series feature distinctive look defined by simple straight lines and ergonomically shaped seats and backrests. Organic curves break up the rigidity of straight lines and create a harmonious overall look underlined by well-balanced proportions and meticulous detailing.

Designers highlight that the 330 is a typical Thonet product, ideal for use in both private and contract interiors.

“In spaces devoted to culture, material things retreat into the background”, says Marcus Keichel when explaining the initial idea behind the 330 chair. With its reduced forms and high-quality finish the 330 is a true all-rounder. “

The 330/1330 Chair and Table Series were launched at Orgatec 2012.
