A pouf born of a simple cut & folded paper – new Sail model by Héctor Serrano for GAN

„We did the first model of Sail for Gan by a simple cut and folding a piece of paper, the natural shape created by the tension of paper that gives the form to the product.“ – explains Spanish designer Héctor Serrano. Here we present just released new Sail model.

Sail is a collection consisting of a pouf, a table and a rug that creates a coherent and complete space. Its first edition was introduced during 2011, characterized by a patchwork of wool fabrics.

Recently Héctor Serrano created a new model for the Sail collection in which the pouf stands out as its most distinctive element. It’s simple and elegant form holds the body in a very comfortable way thanks to its pattern that creates a natural structure to rest arms and back. New Sail models from GAN will be available on the martket since October 2012.

Héctor Serrano is a Spanish designer which projects combine innovation with the communication of familiar ideas in unusual and inventive way. His products has been exhibited extensively in Museums such as V&A in London and Cooper-Hewit National Design Museum in New York and are part of different collections as the Central Museum of Amsterdam.

Gan is a brand of Gandia Blasco, and is specialized in the production of innovative carpets that are  made of 100% virgin wool and are woven by hand. It has become known for its experiments with new knitting methods and redesign of the traditional motives at the same time.
