„Common Sense & Sensibility“ exhibition opens at Belgrade Design Week 2012

The Common Sense & Sensibility design exhibition will premiere at the Belgrade Design Week, opening on 06 June at 8 p.m. The exhibition illustrates a turning-point in the history of contemporary Croatian product design, placing it into a more mature social and market context – a new generation of Croatian products that have evolved into design brands. The exhibition's premiere is organized by the new internet magazine DesignAgenda and the Festival, the exhibition's co-producer.

The exhibition features about 40 selected products by 14 Croatian design brands. This project traces the development of a production culture in this young European country, devastated during the painful post-Communist transition in the 90s. It highlights the beginning of a design culture in contemporary Croatia.

Exhibition opens at National Library of Serbia where BDW 2012 will be held.

The Croatian premiere of the exhibition will take place at the Forum Gallery  in Zagreb (27 June – 06  July 2012). It will introduce Croatian design to tourists, for the first time, from 14 July – 15 August at the Gallery Loggia of the city of Hvar, a  significant Renaissance building in Dalmatia. The city of Hvar is one of the main Croatian destinations for visitors from Northwestern Europe. In 2012 Lonely Planet rated Hvar among the top 5 destinations in the world.

Common Sense & Sensibility exhibition presents prototypes that have (finally) matured into products in recently opened designer workshops and their market integration, the first implementation of design in product development within the furniture industry and Croatian tourism, enriched by the first design hotel and design hostel. The curator of the exhibition is Tatjana Bartaković, editor in chief of DesignAgenda.

The exhibition will be held at the gallery Loggia in town of Hvar (Croatia).
