„Common Sense & Sensibility“ opens at Belgrade Design Week 2012

The Common Sense & Sensibility design exhibition will premiere at the Belgrade Design Week, opening on 06 June at 8 p.m. The exhibition illustrates a turning-point in the history of contemporary Croatian product design, placing it into a more mature social and market context – a new generation of Croatian products that have evolved into design brands. The exhibition’s premiere is organized by the new internet magazine DesignAgenda and the Festival, the exhibition’s co-producer.

Kvadra Design – industry of upholstered furniture

The first actual flywheel of industrial design in Croatia has been Kvadra Design in 2011, whose owner invested 2.6 million euros in the production of upholstered furniture during recession time. Only nine months after starting production, Kvadra Design has won the first Red Dot Award for its sofa bed Revolve.

Element – collection of solid wood furniture

The collection “Element” was the first Croatian design brand of solid wood furniture entirely made of solid wood (Slavonian Oak and Nut), based on a small serial production in the tradition of manufacturing carpentry that evokes the original quality of Slavonian oak and restores its dignity lost in the production of surrogate forms of solid oak furniture.

Great Circle Works – OBLO®, a winning spherical puzzle

OBLO® seems like a success story from the movies. Marko Pavlović, a student of design receives D&AD Global Student Award 2007 – Commendation in London for one of his first works, and a year later the IDEA Gold’08 of the Industrial Designers Society of America. Late in 2010 he was discovered by Mark Cahsens, CEO of the Canadian company Great Circle Works that globally launched Oblo.

Little Horse and Baby Beuys – storyworld of garments merging with toys

Little Horse and Baby Beuys is a collection of unique hand-made natural fibre garments. Merging a garment and a toy, the rabbit character is the main toy which can turn into a curtain, necklace or an immaginary friend – imagination is the only limit. At the same time it is an inspiration for the form of a shirt, dress or trousers with pockets as shelters for the rabbit toy, identifiying garments with a toy dear to children.
