Little Horse and Baby Beuys – storyworld of garments merging with toys

Little Horse and Baby Beuys is a collection of unique hand-made natural fibre garments. Merging a garment and a toy, the rabbit character is the main toy which can turn into a curtain, necklace or an immaginary friend - imagination is the only limit. At the same time it is an inspiration for the form of a shirt, dress or trousers with pockets as shelters for the rabbit toy, identifiying garments with a toy dear to children.

Sisters Maja & Mejra Mujičić are designer duo behind Little Horse and Baby Beuys. They have created this collection with empathy for children, releasing them from the burden of usual stereotypes related to fashion. Although Little Horse and Baby Beuys don’t see their work as fashion but a story on the verge of playfulness, functionality and interdisciplinarity that mirrors their different background of storytelling experience – Mejra’s through visual arts and Maja’s through language.

However, their Little Horse and Baby Beuys world is an ultimate expression of growing up in theaters with their father – scenographer, writer and director. With their main studio based in Zagreb, LHBB moves to its summer residence in Starigrad on the island Hvar (Croatia) each year. This is where they were discovered by an Italian brand manager and developed their presentation for the international market. The first step was a presentation at the Milan Design Week 2012 in the Kidsroom Zoom2, together with approximately 50 other exhibitors like Vitra, Perludi, Studio Maartje Steenkamp, Kidsonroof, Leka Sweden, etc.

A small selection of their wide collection will be presented at the Common Sense & Sensibility exhibition.

The DRESS A HARE collection has been created by merging garments and toys. The shape of a rabbit is an inspiration for the clothes’ form and toys become part of dresses, shirts, trousers… The collection of unique one piece garments is made from traditional Croatian handmade cotton, Japanese handmade and hand-dyed cotton, silk, wool and antique porcelain buttons. All garments have been cut and devised as clothes one can wear for a longer period of time. The wide and comfortable cuts and the possibility of connecting and disconnecting the pieces increases playfulness and enables the clothes to be worn for a couple of seasons.

HERE HARE THERE HARE is a collection of rabbit-shaped puppets with snap fasteners. The basic shape becomes a multifunctional object through minimal intervention: snapping the fasteners allows many permutations like making a chain of puppets or creating a mobile while all the puppets together create a space divider. When snapped out of the system, the rabbit-shaped puppet still remains an individual toy. Here Hare There Hare puppets are made of 100% cotton casing filled with nonallergic synthetic filler and metal snap fasteners.
